Who is this Crazy Real Estate Lady?

Someone once asked me, “Just what made you think moving to TN was a smart choice?  What made you think it was a good career move?”  He went on to say what he meant was because I had left a place where I had built a professional reputation and people knew who I was.  Here in TN, when I first arrived in 2005, I knew NOBODY and nobody knew me. I didn’t know how to respond, especially given the atmosphere in which that question was asked.  That was at my last career… Where I had spent a total of 17 years and that conversation occurred in my first 15 months or so of being here in TN.
I suppose the same is true for real estate.  I could have been a Realtor where I was raised, where my Mother has been licensed since 1976, where I have a ton of relatives, friends and church members, where one brother is an insurance agent, one owns his own plumbing company and where I have a cousin who is an electrician and business owner…it goes on…my sphere of influence is huge there… where my maiden name is known & I have deep roots. But my life is here now, I LOVE Middle TN and I am building my own name & reputation.  I work hard, have strong ethics and pray I am building a solid reputation for myself.   In time, maybe I will have built my reputation strong enough so I would have a good comeback to the question I was asked about why I thought moving was a good career move.
In the meantime….Who IS this crazy real estate lady?  Here’s a little about me.   “My Real Estate Journey” Blog Entry
I hope it helps. If not, just ask!  In short, I’m a just a girl who loves her family, loves the Lord and loves being in the career she’s always wanted to be in and has been blessed with thee best clients!
Oh and p.s.
…. My response to this man’s question was that mine had been a move of faith… Following where I felt led to be and where I felt I could give my daughters (then 9 & 12) a better life.

My Mother became a licensed Real Estate Agent in 1976. At the time of this posting, July 2014, she is still licensed. She has been my mentor and has set a great example of how to care for your clients!

Passionate about helping others…buyers, sellers, new agents

The quote in this photo has always been a favorite since I wrote my high school senior report on Henry David Thoreau. (Yes, I remember. But don’t ask what happenunnamed.jpged last month! LOL) I’m sharing this quote for two ladies who are working hard to get their career where they want it to be AND because it’s a favorite quote of mine.

Sometimes along the path of life, both personally and professionally, we can feel stuck, limited or not where we are meant to be. Sometimes it just takes time.

Though I was blessed to work for a great company while I was a single Mom all those years and needed a steady paycheck & benefits, there were a few folks I encountered over the years who “clipped my wings” so to say, but the two executives I worked for the longest were amazing cheerleaders and I was blessed to learn from the best.  I could only wish my health and my life had been better during those years. However, one of the best things about finally having life where it needs to be (health, happiness and home) and being in the career position I have always wanted to be in is the lack of restraints of having been told “No, you can’t do that, it’s not in your job duties.” Or “No, you can’t succeed at that because of [this or that]” and other chains felt from Corporate America over the years.

When one is living the life they imagined and doing what they are truly passionate about, the sky is the limit.  I had a great mentor once I made the move to Exit Realty, especially to Exit Realty Associates and I could not be more thankful.  I am working to be as good of a mentor to others as she has been to me.  It’s just another aspect of me loving to help others!  Face it…life isn’t about me, it’s about those around me and that is how I truly hope to live out the rest of my days…with the daily motivation that it’s all about those around me, those I come in contact with and perhaps, even those whom I have yet to meet!

Besides helping clients find a home and getting to hand them the keys, I absolutely LOVE helping others get started and mentoring others just starting out. I have been on cloud nine after seeing the joy, excitement and energy stemming from a new agent who has been working hard to make it happen and has recently had her first closing and has another one this month!  Mentoring a truly bright, energetic and motivated individual is an amazing experience. (Chris and Ralph would be proud.)

Relocating to Middle TN?

Relocating to Middle TN?

(originally written in August of 2015)

I have greatly enjoyed helping families relocate.  It’s awesome to show folks the area, be a source of information in the area/show them where to find info they are in need of, and it’s fun having to think outside the box to help families in need.

Earlier this year, I had my first ever FaceTime showing when a client fell in love with a home on line, but wasn’t scheduled to travel here for a few weeks.  She was trying to determine if it was worth the extra flight costs to make a special trip for this one house, as she was concerned it may be sold before her planned house hunting trip. What a joy to hand over the keys on that one!
Today, I attempted the second FaceTime showing for another couple moving from out of state, but technology failed us.  I had back up and just did a series of videos to show them the property and surrounding area!  Thanks to file sharing programs, I will not have to email each video as an attachment.
Technology and Relocation have seemed to go hand and hand for me!  And I am loving it. It’s whatever makes it best for the client…my belief is to truly do whatever I can to help my clients, doing for them as I would my own family.
Relocating is fun. I relocated here ten years ago last month – I’ve been a Rutherford County resident ever since and am proud to serve real estate needs throughout Rutherford County and parts of Williamson County.  (I have also had sales in Davidson County, Cannon County and Cheatham County.)  (Update: 12/ 2017, add Williamson, Wilson, Bedford, & Warren Counties to the list of sales.  AND we can add Bedford County, Coffee County and areas within an hour of the office to the territory I generally serve.)
Middle TN truly is a great place to live! If you or someone you know of considering a move to Middle TN, please contact me, I’d be honored to be a part of their journey!
